NINJA ASSASSIN is a Warner Bros. picture by Australian film director James McTeigue and
produced by the legendary Joel Silver and the Wachowski Brothers. It was written by Matthew
Sand. Ninja Assassin explores political corruption, child endangerment, and the impact of
violence. It was inspired by the ninja scenes featured in the Wachowski's Speed Racer (2008)
which is why Rain was chosen for the role.
The film received negative reviews but for me, it was a pretty entertaining film. Although it's
so brutal but admit it, it's so cool. It sounds like the film is the kind of bad to the bone, action
packed, blood filled that a sword aficionado like me loves to watch. I guess it's not surprising
anymore that the story line is weak. Well, we all know that Rain's English skills has limits.
Maybe it was purposely done so that viewers are focused more on the action and less on
the story.
After 3 days of release, it has climbed up to the 6th spot on the box office charts. But this was
so impressive, as the movie didn't use actors with big names in the industry and was also rated
R, which simply lessen the amount of viewers. The film earned $38,122,883 after they
premiered in theaters nationwide in the US last November 25, 2009 and earned an
additional $23,467,369 through international release which sums up to $61,590,252 in
gross revenue.
Seeing the movie myself, it's pretty bloody but at the same time it's fight scenes are awesome, so I urge you to check it out and support RAIN and other Asians in Hollywood or even all over the world. ♥
